​Considering it's a bit smaller then most Taylor guitars, it actually projects a nice sounding low-end, which you wouldn't neccessarely expect from a guitar this size.

Gorgeous Finish

First and foremost, you should know that this guitar has a gorgeous finish. The solid Sitka spruce top is amazing. Plus, it is going to remain gorgeous for a long time to come. This guitar can really take a beating. As long as you take good care of it, there is a pretty good chance that it’ll last the rest of your life. The guitar is definitely something that will bring you a lot of attention. If you’re interested in buying ​one that looks and sounds amazing, this one shouldn’t be ignored.

The Pickup

It is definitely nice to have a guitar that is equipped with a pickup. The Taylor 114CE ​is. This guitar features the expression system transducer pickup. It is a single source transducer that is under saddle. There are individual elements for each string. It is also equipped with an onboard preamp and active controls, which are similar to the ones found on the full expression system. Just remember that everything is powered by a 9-volt battery. The battery’s life is easy to determine by using the LED power indicator.

The Cutaway

Overall Assessment

At the end of the day, there is a lot to like about the Taylor 114CE and not much to dislike. It sounds great and looks just as good.
