Hey everyone. It has unfortunately been a really long time since we have posted anything on IndieHQ. I wish I could say that was going to change in the near future, but with all of our current schedules that is looking to be pretty doubtful. In lieu of this situation, I thought I’d give some quick updates on where we’re all at right now and how to keep up to date with what we’re all up to should you feel inclined…
I recently updated my personal blog and portfolio. I also posted a “Best of 2007″ mix for anyone to stream or download.
Virgil has been extrememly busy with Suburban Home and Vinyl Collective. Check out a new band he is releasing vinyl for called Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground. The record is excellent.
Bill recently launched a new site for Blackout! Check it out and make sure to watch the Sheer Terror documentary available to stream on the site.
Hope all are doing well.

I have some bad news. I will be unable to post the Indie Sales Chart for the next few weeks. Truth is, I am busier now than I have ever been in my life and because of this, I just can’t seem to find the time to make the Indie Sales Chart happen. Both Vinyl Collective and Suburban Home are so busy right now, I can barely find time for anything else. I hope everyone has a great holiday and I really hope that I will be back on top of things in early 2008.

Sadly, I just got news of GSL’s decision to cease releasing new records. They offered the following statement (click the link to read it). It is a total bummer as I have always held Sonny Kay, co-owner of GSL, in high regard and with total respect and admiration. He actually gave me an early start in my “music career” when he handed me the reigns of booking Club 156 in Boulder, CO, back in 1995. I wish Sonny nothing but good things in all of his future endeavors.

In June of 2006 I wrote a post on my old blog about Radiohead, and how they could potentially shift music business into 2.0 with digital self distribution of an album. It seems that very thing has come to pass.
With very little fanfare, they have launched a site for their next release, In Rainbows. To be made available only by pre-order (as either a box set/ digital or digital only) through this website at first.

As a new feature. I’ll be posting relevant links to other worthwhile articles concerning music, digital media, and mobile. This is a test run, so it’s a bit short for today- but it will be updated on a frequent recurring basis.
These are my links for August 29th:

Press Release Below:
West Babylon, NY: Looney Tunes Records, the longstanding, nationwide renowned independent record retailer experienced a devastating fire last night. The cause, arson investigators say, was a faulty extension cord.
The decimated 4,000 square foot record store has been the toast of not only its native Long Island, but also a national testimony to the perseverance of the independent music retailer. In an age when much of the general outlook seems bleak, Looney Tunes is 35 years standing. The family owned business, first opened by Karl Groeger in 1971, now run by his sons Karl, Jr and Jaime, has not only thrived over much of its years in business, but it has also boasted high profile in-store appearances such as Ice T, Ozzy Osbourne and Staind, whose 2001 rooftop in-store performance attracted 7,500 fans to the store.
