Hey everyone. It has unfortunately been a really long time since we have posted anything on IndieHQ. I wish I could say that was going to change in the near future, but with all of our current schedules that is looking to be pretty doubtful. In lieu of this situation, I thought I’d give some quick updates on where we’re all at right now and how to keep up to date with what we’re all up to should you feel inclined…
I recently updated my personal blog and portfolio. I also posted a “Best of 2007″ mix for anyone to stream or download.
Virgil has been extrememly busy with Suburban Home and Vinyl Collective. Check out a new band he is releasing vinyl for called Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground. The record is excellent.
Bill recently launched a new site for Blackout! Check it out and make sure to watch the Sheer Terror documentary available to stream on the site.
Hope all are doing well.

Moving my offices into my house was a lot of work, but it went much better than I could have ever imagined. Due to the move and trying to organize, as you might have noticed, I wasn’t as active IndieHQ. I hope to be back at it this week and have a lot of stuff that I have been meaning to write about. I hope you like the new site. Sean took a lot of time putting this together and it is hard to believe that is finally live. Let us know if you find any bugs.
My favorite part of the new site is our ability to offer you a number of full album streams including new mix tapes every month. Sean, myself, and Bill hope to bring you a new mix every month and depending on how it goes, I plan to bring you 3 exciting full album streams every couple of weeks. The albums we feature won’t always be new ones, but they will be records we consider important and amazing. I will also be writing a little more about each of the albums we feature as separate posts with the hope that it opens up a conversation about each of these albums.
My mix, “Songs to Drink Mad Dog to” features many of my favorite songs of 2007. I am pretty sure that each of the songs featured are from albums that have been released or re-released in 2007. These are all bands that I love and want to share with all of you. Yes, I featured some of my bands, because a mix of my favorite songs of 2007 would not be complete without my own acts. And yes, I put 3 Drag the River songs mourning the loss of one of my bands. You can check out some of our other recent acts though like Josh Small, Two Cow Garage, Love Me Destroyer, and Drag the River peppered in between some of my favorite songs by Apples in Stereo, the Blow, The Snake the Cross the Crown, The Shins, Dustin Kensrue, Andrew Bird, Smoke or Fire, Arcade Fire, Voxtrot, and more. I hope you enjoy our mixes. And yes, I am a fan of Mad Dog and prefer the Kiwi-Live(Antifreeze Green) flavor. I always tell people that this is how I stay young by reliving the drink of my eighth grade year.

I was very surprised to see the response to the first volume of the State of the Union. I guess the most surprising aspect was that there were plenty of people that read my entire rant on all the things in my head. In the instant gratification/fast food culture we live in, it really seems as though fewer people care to read, but to those of you who took the time, thanks. Here goes volume 2.

The Radio Free Greg Episode I mentioned last week is now available for download. You can download the episode with this link. It is always weird hearing my own voice, but I think the interview came out pretty good. We discuss the future of Suburban Home and the Music Industry in general plus a little talk about my major (Molecular Biology) and how punk rockers seem to gravitate towards that degree. In addition to the interview with me, Greg asks 5 dumb questions with Smoke or Fire and plays a ton of great tunes including Love Me Destroyer, Descendents, Adolescents, the Copyrights, and much more. It is a great podcast that I highly recommend everyone check out.

Greg from Go Kart Records recently interviewed me for his radio show/podcast, Radio Free Greg. His interview with me has to do with the recent statement we made about the Future of Suburban Home, Vinyl Collective, and Dead Format. I feel pretty good that I don’t come off sounding like a bumbling idiot, at least I hope so. You can listen to the show on PunkRadioCast tonight at 10pm Eastern, and re-runs will air Friday at 10 am Eastern and Sunday at 5 pm Eastern. It will also soon appear as a podcast that can be downloaded. I will be sure to post a link when that happens.
I highly recommend the podcast as the ones I have listened to always feature interesting interviews and great music. Thanks Greg!

I had mentioned that I would make a more formal statement regarding Dead Format. While putting it together, I figured I should explain all the things going on at the Suburban Home headquarters which includes Vinyl Collective and Dead Format. The statement is rather lengthy so I have included it at the bottom of this post through a link. Feel free to read on if you have the time. I want it known that although these are difficult times and tough decisions on my part, I am very optimistic about the future.
Feel free to post this statement on your blog or on your myspace page as I would like for others to know what is happening with us. Thanks for reading:

We are so excited to welcome Bill Wilson of No Revolution and Blackout Records as the newest contributing writer and editor of IndieHQ. It is such an honor to have Bill on board as I not only respect the things he has done with Blackout, but I also have been an avid subscriber of his own blog-site, No Revolution.
Our family at IndieHQ is getting much bigger as we have plans to add a number of new contributors over the next couple of weeks. I am very excited at the things we will be able to do with help of our improved team of writers.

As Sean had posted earlier, my wife and I had a baby boy, Logan Virgil Dickerson. He was born, Friday, June 2nd at 5:02 am. He weighed in at 6 pounds, 2.5 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches in length. We consider ourselves very lucky as my wife labored for only 5.5 hours and we were able to have a natural childbirth which was our original goal. Words can’t even begin to describe the experience. I will be working from home for the next 2 weeks while my wife and I get used to having our little guy around.
