Notable Major label releases - Alicia Keys sold 742,000 to lead the pack. Led Zeppelin sold a pretty impressive 136,000. The Killers sold 82,000. Boyz to Men sold 42,000.
Notes - After watching 60 Minutes, I would like to take back my earlier comment that the Eagles’ new album should not be considered indie. I found out something most of you might already know. They funded and released the album and WalMart agreed to buy a whopping 3,000,000 copies. Pretty insane.
It seems like the Dillinger Escape Plan numbers were a little low for them. Streetlight Manifesto seemed to have a pretty strong first week, I am not sure their past titles have ever done this well.
Upcoming Releases / Predictions - New releases by the Format, NOFX, Anberlin, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Bonnie Prince Billy, Copeland, Dead End Kids, Dead Poetic, D.O.A., Electric Wizard, and Haram.

Tom, these are the sales numbers for the Billboard chart week 1st December. The numbers for this week (8th December chart) should be posted here on either Wednesday or Thursday.
Must say I’m disappointed DEP didn’t sel better. Their previous album, 2004’s Miss Machine, sold 11,000 copies first week out and debuted at No.106. Ire Works is one of the best albums of 2007. More people need to buy it.

Any sales numbers for Bo Bice’s “See The Light”? You listed it as #31 in the last update, can you post an update on this album?

Yes, many of these “direct to retail” deals are exactly what you just described. Self funded and self released, or some additional funding from a third party.

this is a late update. The Thanksgiving holiday delayed when I received the numbers. Will have new numbers posted on wednesday or thursday. And I will post bo bice then.

Ordered the Dillinger Escape Plan from AEC One Stop, got zeroed, so we had none to sell…
While I’m sure this partially accounts for the small number, the fact that it has been floating around online since August didn’t help either.

Crazy to see Garth Brooks and The Eagles at the top of the Indie charts.
Impressive showing for Streetlight Manifesto. I listened to that record on the recommendation of a few people…I think I am just too old for ska.
