Notable Major Label numbers - Jay Z’s latest (wait, I thought you were retired) sold over 400,000 to take the top spot. Not sure why the Eagles are on the Indie Charts, if you ask me, a label exclusively purchased by Wal-Mart should not be considered indie. Angel and Airwaves sold almost 70,000 copies, but from what I can tell Tom didn’t tell the world that this was gonna be the greatest record of all time like he did last time around. Demon Hunter sold 10,000 copies.

Notes - I just got back into town from Chicago and don’t have time to look up new releases. if you can add any new releases you know of in the comments, that would be a great help. Thanks. Feel free to offer your predictions.

One question though, where was Operation Ivy???

Virgil, the entry for Black Dahlia Murder is missing total sales to date.

Dillinger Escape Plan’s new one is out this week. I reckon they’ll between 12-14,000 first week out.

Would you mind posting the numbers for Ministry and High On Fire if they are still on the chart?

I just had to represent for my buds…haha.

Bullet For My Valentine’s new album is coming out in Jan with their old album still selling well. Crazy.

Dragonforce is killing it because of Guitar Hero 3.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t consider the Eagles direct to Walmart deal, not an indie?

howdy doody, I guess it could be argued that it is in fact indie, but to me selling only to Walmart should disqualify you as being indie. I know that may not be the best way to look at it, but this is how I feel.

MIke, I mentioned demon hunters number on the major label side of things. tooth and nail and solid state are not on the indie charts.

adam, I will fix the black dahlia numbers. thanks for pointing that out

The Eagles are signed to Universal, and the Hairspray soundtrack is released by New Line which is a subsidiary of Time Warner. How are those two independent?

Is it a Universal thing? I thought it was one of those essentially self funded released discs with a direct to retail distro deal things? I know there’s a couple of different companies or “plans” for lack of a better term pushing that kind of thing right now.
Also, how do you register for this site?

The Garth Brooks was available to all retailers, one way. It is his own label (Pearl), so it is truly an indie. Look for this to happen even more with ex-major label acts that gain control their catalog.

The Eagles will be released on Universal next year, but the sale Wal-Mart was direct from the band.

The Hairspray soundtrack is released through ADA (not WEA) so it is considered indie.

Also…so we all agree dillinger will sell at least 10,000? That would be sweet.

Good question about op iv. I’m curious too.

Op Ivy did 2200 first week. That seems pretty light considering everywhere I went they had it on sale for cheap.

It’s a catalog item. It’s something that will just consitantly sell for years. I’m sure there wasn’t a big run on them first week.

[…] According to Ken Barnes, Bo’s sales for the week ended November 18 were 2,400. Please note that these figures included only one day after Bo’s “Witness” video reached #3 on the VH1 Top Twenty, so we do not yet know whether, or to what extent, that affected sales of “See the Light” in any way. Here’s hoping it did, but I, too, find myself asking, what else can be done? The sales figures reported for the prior week at IndieHQ were 31 BO BICE SEE THE LIGHT This Week: 3500 Total: 18,400 […]
