23 SPOON GA GA GA GA GA

This Week: 4100
Total: 145,300

30 BANHART*DEVENDRA SMOKEY ROLLS DOWN THUNDER

This Week: 3200
Total: 9,500

I just read an interview in Rolling Stone and Devendra is a weird bird. I love the quote about him spending most of his advance money on crystals. Sounds like a good decision.

31 BETWEEN THE BURIED & ME COLORS

Total: 3,000

I need to check this one out.

122 YORKE*THOM ERASER

This Week: 1200
Total: 284,700

The hype surrounding Radiohead’s big announcement to put out their record themselves has made a small boost in Thom’s solo record. Anyone loving the new Radiohead? I need to listen to it more.

200 TESLA REAL TO REEL

This Week: 800
Total: 42,400

Notable Major Label releases - The boss leads all with 335 thousand. John Fogerty sells 66,000 of his Revival album which is sounding pretty good! Emery sells 12,000 copies. Spill Canvas sells 5,500.

Upcoming Releases / Predictions - New ones by A Wilhelm Scream, Band of Horses, Parkway Drive, Royden, She Wants Revenge, So They Say, Jesu, Enon, and First to Leave. I think that Band of Horses could have a big week, they have sold nearly 90,000 of their first one. Do you think they can sell 20,000 copies which could be enough for the top spot. Parkway Drive are yet another screamo band on Epitaph, will these guys sell enough to make the top 10? I think She Wants Revenge are on a major, but it will be interesting to see if they can sell 30,000 plus and it goes to show that if you can cop that whole Joy Division / Interpol thing, you can sell a few records. I really like A Wilhelm Scream and hope they can scan 2,000 plus.

Emery only did 11,000 the first week, which to me, was a low number.

All Time Low is on tour with Boys Like Girls, right now. They should do 2 to 4,000 for the next few weeks.

I can’t believe Anti-Flag’s numbers were so low.

As I Lay Dying are amazing guys and I’m glad they are doing well.

ETID has low numbers to me.

Virgil, calling Parkway Drive screamo is like calling Anti-Flag emo. PD is one of the most brutal hardcore bands out there. Their music is extremely heavy.

tim, thanks for the correction. I guess I just lump a lot of epitaph’s new wave of signings together. My bad.

No problem, Virgil. I didn’t mean to sound like a dick, either. I just re-read that and it sounded dickish. Sorry man!

Those Anti-Flag numbers are low. However, it’s not a real full length and I didn’t see a whole lot of press on the release. Granted, I don’t have eyes everywhere, but then again I really should have to look too hard. I get the impression a large number of kids go to their shows still.

Also, it seems to me that Aiden’s numbers are low as well. I really thought that band sold better. Not that I would like them to, mind you.

I am crossing my fingers for Whilhelm Scream. I will be purchasing it this weekend in fact.

Are Anti-Flags’ numbers really low? It is a self released EP with only 5 new songs on it. How did their major label album sell vs. the last one on Fat Wreck?

Still curious if anyone has info on the newest Against Me album.

is the new radiohead considered indie for these charts or are the sales even being reported?

Chris, I do agree about Aiden’s numbers. I’m pretty sure their last album did over 100,000.

Parkway is plain brutal, that’s all I know. They did half of Warped Tour and I was in awe everytime they played. Great bunch of guys, too.

I don’t think Radiohead’s numbers are going to be reported.

I think a sales increase would show up on next week’s chart because SoundScan tracking ends on Sunday. Thanks for posting their numbers.

Yeah, I know I’m the 42nd person to say this, but Parkway are more in the Killswitch neck of the woods than anything that gets called “screamo.” Their last record was produced by either the guitarist of KSE or Unearth.

She Wants Revenge are on whatever the hell of Fred Durst’s current imprint of Interscope/Universal is.. Flip???

Sorry, I got my date wrong for the new Overkill on Bodog - it should actually show up on this week’s indie chart. Do you still think you could post their numbers?

As always, thanks for the updates!

    Brian

P.S. - Any chance for Ministry and Iced Earth updates as well?
