Lumberjack loses Indecision to Revelation
Just got the following press release, but I had seen an announcement by Revelation that they were going to handle Indecision’s distribution. Speaking of Revelation, I didn’t see any big announcements, but when Koch purchased Navarre, Revelation left to work with Red Eye. I am sure there is a story there because if I am not mistaken Revelation was at one time distributed by Koch.
The press release can be found by clicking the following link:
LMMG Change of Distribution Notice: INDECISION RECORDS
——————————————-
Effective immediately, we will no longer be exclusively distributing product released by Indecision Records. Attached is a complete catalog listing which will be deleted from the Lumberjack Mordam catalog.
Indecision Records will be distributed in the US by Revelation Distribution. We will not be taking returns on this product as Revelation has informed us that they will be accepting returns for all active product sold to you by us.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks for your co-operation during this transition.

The Revelation distribution machine seems to grow stronger by the day and not with a dip in quality whatsoever. Virgil - can you pry a list from Rev that indicates all of the labels they distribute exclusively? One hardcore label that is going to be seriously on the rise for them is Reaper Records.

Only one of the best hardcore labels to ever exist. They’ve been around since 1995 - check ‘em out. www.indecisionrecords.com.

Indecision is a cool label, but their absence won’t really affect Lumberjack. LMMG should be much more concerned with Eulogy’s departure.

>>>I shouldn’t even bother taking the flame bait, but just the idea of linking soundscans to what Indecision is about is laughable at best and pathetically sad at worst. I think there’s a spot waiting for you on the Absolutepunk forums…

It just proves what a pathetic troll you are to hype up a label who’s best days are behind them. The whole hardcore movement is a shambles right now and just looking at Indecision’s last 5 or 6 releases will show you that. Take off your high school glasses, this isn’t the label you grew up with.

I agree that linking soundscan misses the point, however, Frank is right on. That label is really completely irrelevent in hardcore in 2007. They’re really not even a blip on Bridge 9, Eulogy or Deathwish’s radar. I think Suicide File was probably the last “important” thing they released.
Speaking of Eulogy, did they leave LMMG?

Indecision releases what they want and don’t play “flavor of the month” like so many others. They’ve done some good reissues the past few years like the Unbroken, Undertow and Insted. Bottom line is they’re much better served by Revelation than the debacle that is Lumberjack / Mordam. Good for them.
By the way, Soundscan doesn’t mean shit, man. Indecision releases are probably something that sells through indie or mom & pop stores who do not participate in Soundscan rather than the Best Buy / Target / Wal-Mart of the world. Remember what Soundscan doesn’t tell you about: Just how many of those CDs wind up being returned by those stores.

See Ryan, you missed the point completely.
Unrboken - 2003, Undertow - 2004. Insted - 2004. They haven’t done anything relevant in 3 years by your standards.
Going back to my original point, “who?” They aren’t even a blip on the hardcore scene anymore and anyone who thinks otherwise is living in the past. Thus the reference to Soundscan to make an overtly over your head point.
Now about those returns, I’m sure Indecision knows something about that!

Actually Ryan, Soundscan does require you to track returns.
We just developed a Soundscan script for our site, signed their contract / terms, etc etc.
In the instructions they give you the “formula” on how to do weekly report, and part of it IS returns.

Ryan-
Those albums/artists are even older than the one I sited, Suicide File. They haven’t been relevent or really put out anything decent or important in years. Like I said, labels like Bridge 9, Deathwish, even Eulogy who I don’t see as releasing “flavor of the week” stuff, are way ahead of them and more vital and important to “hardcore.” It’s like trying to argue that Revelation is somehow still “important” to hardcore, more than being a distributor. They’re not.

Alex mentioned Eulogy leaving LMMG, does anyone know more about this? Is this really happening? They’ve been distributed by Lumberjack for what seems like forever and I believe Set Your Goal’s Mutiny is one of the (few) releases that does pretty well for LMMG these days. Are they really moving their distribution elsewhere? If so, does anyone know where?
