1 METALOCALYPSE: DETHKLOK DETHALBUM

This Week: 33800
Total: 33,900

Is this a soundtrack for the show?

2 IRON & WINE SHEPHERD’S DOG

This Week: 31700
Total: 31,900

Huge first week for Iron and Wine. I figured it would do well, but this is really great.

3 DOWN DOWN III-OVER THE UNDER

This Week: 29300
Total: 29,400

I figured this one would do well, too, but 30,000 is a ton of records. Glad to see 3 records beat out Hairspray.

4 HAIRSPRAY SOUNDTRACK

This Week: 18900
Total: 627,800

5 HELL RELL FOR THE HELL OF IT

This Week: 15700
Total: 15,900

6 ALL TIME LOW SO WRONG, IT’S RIGHT

This Week: 13900
Total: 14,300

I have heard a few people say that this is the best first week for Hopeless in their history. I am not 100 percent about this, but if that is the case, that means that this record has done better first week than Thrice and Avenged Sevenfold. Great first week.

7 DROPKICK MURPHYS MEANEST OF TIMES

This Week: 13500
Total: 42,000

Motion City may have had a better first week, but it looks as though Dropkicks may end up with bigger numbers overall.

8 GUCCI MANE TRAP-A-THON

This Week: 12400
Total: 12,500

9 MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK EVEN IF IT KILLS ME

This Week: 10500
Total: 43,700

Pretty huge drop off after the first week, but you would hear no complaints from me doing 43,000 after 2 weeks.

10 EARLE*STEVE WASHINGTON SQUARE SERENADE

This Week: 9600
Total: 10,000

I just read something about this record and need to hear it. Anyone digging this?

11 SHEKINAH GLORY MINISTRY JESUS

This Week: 8000
Total: 5,700

12 VARIOUS GOIN’ HOME-TRIBUTE TO FATS DOM

This Week: 6900
Total: 6,900

13 CHIODOS BONE PALACE BALLET

This Week: 6800
Total: 69,000

Still doing really strong numbers. Should be at 100,000 in about a month.

14 FOWLER*KEVIN BRING IT ON

This Week: 6700
Total: 6,800

15 BANHART*DEVENDRA SMOKEY ROLLS DOWN THUNDER

This Week: 6300
Total: 6,400

I have only listened to this once so far, it sounded a bit weirder than past releases. I thought that Devendra could do bigger numbers though.

24 BETWEEN THE BURIED & ME COLORS

This Week: 4700
Total: 17,400

A bit of a drop off after the first week, but the band is putting up some really strong numbers.

26 WHISKEY FALLS WHISKEY FALLS

This Week: 4500
Total: 4,500

28 WEAKERTHANS REUNION TOUR

This Week: 4200
Total: 4,200

I missed their show in Denver, but I heard that it sold out the venue and people were freaking out. I gave the new album a few listens and it is just a little too mellow for my tastes. I love the first 2 records though.

31 BLACK DAHLIA MURDER NOCTURNAL

This Week: 3800
Total: 13,500

34 BLED SILENT TREATMENT

This Week: 3500
Total: 3,500

I have been reading a lot of praise for this new record. I gave it a spin, but it really didn’t grab me.

43 MATT POND PA LAST NIGHT

This Week: 2700
Total: 2,800

Last I heard, Matt Pond was going Major Label. I don’t know enough of his history but I thought he was capable of doing bigger numbers.

44 DONNAS BITCHIN’

This Week: 2700
Total: 10,400

The Donnas were in the top 10 last week and dropped all the way to #44 this week. Ouch.

197 CASUALTIES MADE IN NYC

This Week: 800
Total: 800

This would seem like really small numbers had it not been for the fact that this is a live record.

Major label numbers - Rascal Flatts led the pack with 540,000 sold. Foo Fighters sold 168,000 for #3.

Upcoming releases / Predictions - In stores this week are releases by American Steel, Dashboard Confessional, Coalesce, The Spill Canvas, Idiot Pilot, Bullets and octane, All Else Failed, Anti-Flag, Between the Wars, Emery, The Great Deceiver, Internal Affairs, No Turning Back, and more. Questions, do you think American Steel will make it onto the charts? There was definitely hype surrounding them getting back together and signing to Fat, but the new record sounds more like a Communique record than it does an American Steel record. Will Dashboard post really big numbers like he has done in the past? Do you think Dashboard can top the indie charts? I think their last one was #2 overall in Billboard, but it seems as though there was a lot more going on with him then. Will Anti-Flag scan more than a thousand or two thousand copies of their self-released collection cd for charity? I remember seeing it had a low retail price, that might help, but it seems like their stock has gone down since putting out a record on a major. The Spill Canvas have gotten a lot bigger over the past few years, but are they capable of cracking the top 10? What are your predictions?

I know I said All Time Low would be one of Hopeless’ highest selling first week band. I hope I didn’t imply it was the highest. I’ll try to check up on that, though. They just started their tour with Boys Like Girls so I expect there won’t be that big of a dip, next week. Their EP is selling at around 1,000 a week and it’s at 60,000.

The Bled seems like a HUGE letdown. That band had so much buzz a few years ago.

I keep hearing great things about BTBAM.

    Next week sales:

    Dashboard - 45,000
    Emery - 25,000
    Spill Canvas - 8,000
    Bullets & Octane - 1,000

Virgil, I forgot to inquire about this: Did World/Inferno’s new album that came out on 9/11 ever make the charts?

Any update on the latest Against Me! cd? I know it isn’t indie.

The new Bullet & Octane cd isn’t very remarkable.

I wasn’t sure if the new Down album would be considered an indie release or not. I’m glad it did well. Their last album sold 31k in its first week so it’s nice to see them almost as much 5 years later.

    Hi Virgil.

Could you please post an update for the following:
Iced Earth, Megadeth (live), Tesla, and Arch Enemy

    Plus a special request:
Could post the numers for thrash legends Overkill for the next couple of weeks?
I’d really like to see if their new one on Bodog can last more than one week on the indie chart.

    Thanks again!

Another request: Would you be kind enough to post Spoon’s numbers in the future? They’re getting close to dropping off the BB200. Thanks in advance!
