Wolfgang’s Vault - listen to vintage recordings from the greats

In 2003, Bill Sagan purchased a warehouse full of rock memorabilia which was owned by the late Bill Graham. Reports say that he spent close to 5 million dollars for an undisclosed about of memorabilia. It took Bill Sagan and a team of archivists years to catalog everything they had. Of all the items, there were nearly 7,000 recordings from 7,000 different performances ranging from The Who to Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath to the Clash. They are putting up many of these recordings at a site they started called Wolfgang’s Vault. I am currently listening to the Clash recording of a 1979 concert in Cleveland, Ohio and it sounds rad. You can stream all of their recordings for free by just signing up for a free login. Highly recommended.

I’ve been listening to a lot of concerts on there the past week. (King Crimson 12/15/69 is my favorite)

I read that, too, and also saw that some labels are trying to sue. It will be interesting to see the outcome since they are not selling the recordings.

[…] I recently posted about Wolfgang’s Vault which has been streaming legendary concerts from the 60’s and 70’s. It is a really neat site, but lately, there have been a few artists very upset with the site. There have been a few lawsuits claiming that the site is guilty of copyright and trademark infringement, as well as violations of a federal anti-bootlegging act. […]
